Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course the delegate shall be able to:

Understand the key reasons for managing health and safety within the workplace.

Understand the legal responsibilities of themselves and the company for the management of health and safety in the workplace.

Identify potential workplace hazards and risks, their potential impact and how best to eliminate, reduce and control them.

Understand how to respond and evaluate a workplace incident or accident.

Recognise the key benefits of having an effective health and safety management system in place.

Implement proactive and preventative loss reduction through detailed auditing and evaluation.

Course Content

The course is broken into seven modules, with a concluding assessment and project:

Module 1 – Introducing Managing Safely

Module 5 - Understanding Hazards

Module 2 - Assessing Risks

Module 6 - Investigating Incidents

Module 3 – Controlling Risks

Module 7 - Measuring Performance

Module 4 – Understanding Responsibilities

Assessment

The IOSH Managing Safely training course is assessed by a 30-question multiple-choice exam and a practical assignment to be completed at the delegates place of work.
